Many people think the only way to get fit is by lifting weights. Understand that an expensive gym membership or fancy equipment may not be necessary to really build muscles. All your body may need is a combination of intense exercises including squats, push-ups, pull-ups, leg raises, handstand push-ups and bridges.

When lifting weights, start off by working smaller muscle groups at the beginning of your workout. Small muscles wear out before the big ones, so you should start small. Then, as you work your greater muscles, the small ones get a much-needed break. 

To help remain motivated try different fitness classes. By changing things up you’ll be able to try new things while getting fit, and will want to keep exercising. Think about going to a dancing class or attempt a yoga session. Other programs to consider include kickboxing or fitness boot camps. Keep in mind that you can just attend one of each type of class, and if nothing else, you will lose some weight.

While indoor treadmills provide great exercise, running in the outdoors is far more strenuous. Running on the pavement is better in the winter than using an indoor treadmill.

Add many intervals of lighter weight, as opposed to heavier weights and less repetitions, when lifting weights. This will help you see results more quickly. Muscle mass involves length of endurance without the loss of strength rather that how much you can lift. Many weight-lifters practice this method.

Your strength program will differ based on your end goals, so figure out what results you are looking for before beginning a program. Heavier weights are great for building muscle, since they increase the intensity of your workout. If your goal is overall fitness, you can get away with smaller weights and more repetitions, which helps with muscle endurance.

Get fit while you clean. For example, if you’re already on the floor attempting to clean up a spill, you could do a few lunge exercises. Doing pushups also works in this situation. Everyday add a few small bursts of fun physical activity and you can quickly get into shape.

Large muscle groups have more endurance then smaller muscles. Start with handheld dumbbells, next try barbells, and lastly try machines.
